Active School Flag
From the 26th to the 28th of April our whole school participated in active week. One of the main reasons for taking part in Active Week was to see if we would be awarded an Active School Flag. This flag is just like a green Flag but it means that we are a very Active School right throughout the whole year and not just for that one week.
We took part in many different activities during the week. On Monday we had a talk from a physiotherapist and we did an obstacle course. On Tuesday we went to the GAA grounds for a blitz. On Wednesday we had a treasure hunt and played basketball. We also had the trials for the javelin throwing to see who would qualify for the Primary Schools Sports in Greystones. On Thursday the indoor football league finals were played.
I would like to thank Ms. Smith for organising Active Week as we all had a great time.
We were recently notified that we have been awarded an Active Schools Flag. Well done to everyone who helped and a special word of congratulations to Ms. Smith who put in a huge amount of work.

Planting Potatoes
All the classes in the school planted potatoes in our vegetable garden. We put them in three rows. It was great fun. We should be able to dig them up in the Autumn. Last year we had loads of potatoes. There was about four or five potatoes with each plant. I hope we get lots of potatoes this year. It would be good to have more than last year.

When we came back in september tha potatoes were ready for digging up. Every class got a chance to dig up their own potatoes. We got a huge amount of potatoes and everyone brought home a couple of potatoes for their dinner. We also had carrots, lettuce and scallions which were all ready at the same time. They all tasted lovely and we hope to do the same again next year.
Outdoor Classroom
Our outdoor classroom is really fun. It is at the front of the school. Dave and Mick built it. We can go outside to read, write and do maths on a nice day. Sometimes we eat our lunch outside. We love our outdoor classroom.

Chickens Project
There was great excitement in both 3rd and 4th classes when the chicken hatchery arrived in the school during September. There were 2 hatcheries set up - one in Ms Coyle's and the other in Mr Sheridan's.
Day 1
A man called Duncan came to our class with a bag full of wood chippings, an incubator, a drip bottle, a box, six eggs and some chicken food.. It turned out that the six eggs had chicks in them. He is letting us have them for two weeks he also said that they would hatch on Wednesday. We are allowed to name them. We have to clean their cage and care for them. I can't wait for them to hatch. Megan
Day 3
When we came in we lifted the box off the incubator. There looking at us was a little black chicken. When we were doing Maths another chicken was hatching. We got to see the egg hatch this time. James
Day 6
Today is Monday. We got to hold the chickens again todayThey are very jumpy. They do poop sometimes when you hold them. My favourite chicken is Liemus because he is so small and cute. Marie
Day 8
Today is Wednesday. The chickens are chirping a lot and we got to hold them again. Their feet are pointy and like dinosaur legs except not so big. They are furry and soft. Their beaks are different to each other. Eoin
Day 9
It is the last full day we have the chicks. Tomorrow Duncan is coming back to collect them. I don't think he will be happy when he finds out that one didn't hatch but that's the way life is. After break we gave the chicks to Ms Nelson. Paul and Patrick went in to show them how to hold them. I really wish we had them for longer. Aaron
Day 10
Today I really miss the chicks. I want them back. I really, really want them back. Rebecca
